About Us

Since the late 1960s, the Crawley family has built Sunrise Eggs into a highly successful business supplying eggs to an array of businesses, both big and small. Using the latest advances in packing technology, our list of credentials are testimony to our commitment to producing the highest quality eggs from the most contented of hens.

Once upon a time, back in the late 1960’s, Tony Crawley first started rearing young hens in his farmyard. Over the years the Crawley family has continued to build a highly successful egg business. Maintaining the same family values, sons Ady and Phill, working hand in hand with the Leicestershire countryside and the local community, have enabled Sunrise to continue to produce eggs where quality and animal welfare are top priority.

Today, Sunrise pack approximately four million eggs a week. Our eggs are sold in all types of establishments; from major supermarket chains to local shops. We also supply all kinds of businesses… big and small. So, wherever and whenever you eat a Sunrise egg, you can be assured of the freshest, tastiest and healthiest eggs, laid by the most contented of hens.

We’ve put our faith in Moba egg grading technology for many years and constantly updated during that time to keep up to date with the latest advances. Automated loading, Crack and Inclusion detection both complement the latest egg handling system.

Robotised Ungraded egg loading
The robot loader uses advances from the automotive industry to delicately lift 4 stacks of eggs at once.

Inspection and Detection
Faults are automatically detected by some highly complex equipment using cameras, image analysis, steel balls, magnetic fields, algorithms and acoustical data.

Continual Egg Testing
We test eggs on an ongoing basis for internal and shell defects.

Ink coding
Lion logos and Best Before dates are jet printed on… using food- safe ink.

Pack labelling
Each pack is closed then labelled with a Best-Before date and a code to enable traceability back to the flock that laid the eggs.
